Fall to Ruin Collective |
The Writing Blurbs of a Krys

| Jan. 14th, 2027 10:45 pm Fall to Ruin - The Collective Every time I finish a chapter, it'll be posted up here, in order, so you all don't have to search amongst any other posts I might make to find them - thus, you can expect this particular post to be updated quite a few times. Mmmmyep. I'll also state the progress of each chapter, that way you know when I'm actually working on it, and when I'm just being a total laze. XD Most of the chapters have already been planned out completely, and I know exactly which way I want to go with them. However, others are a bit more difficult because they deal with important aspects of the characters, which I intend to keep intact while still making for a believable story.
Meanwhile, for a little bit more info on the actual story as a whole, as well as other examples of my writing, you can see my first post here.
Fall to Ruin Now complete!
Chapter One - In which a schedule goes awry Chapter Two - In which aliens seem to laugh Chapter Three - In which no notable tactic is employed Chapter Four - In which an Invader runs screaming Chapter Five - In which Zim assures himself otherwise Chapter Six - In which certain skills might be useful Chapter Seven - In which Zim is not-so-stealthy Chapter Eight - In which Dib's nerves are frazzled Chapter Nine - In which Zim hits like a girl Chapter Ten - In which squealy larva is rescued Chapter Eleven - In which awkwardness is avoided Chapter Twelve - In which differences are set aside Chapter Thirteen - In which a promise is made Chapter Fourteen - In which there is much walking Chapter Fifteen - In which some ransacking occurs Chapter Sixteen - In which there's no problem Chapter Seventeen - In which something improbable happens Chapter Eighteen - In which Dib is quite dramatic Chapter Nineteen - In which a baby is coddled Chapter Twenty - In which there is Hope
Iiiiit's finished! Whoo!
AND NOW FOR THE SEQUEL, WHOO
Note: Said sequel will be a variation of ZADR. One that is not actually very romantic at all. Because romance is very out of character for Zim and Dib, yes indeedy. You can view the status below - now that the prologue is more or less complete, it's likely I'll try something similar to when FtR was still in the works, and wait until I finish a few chapters before starting to upload them.
Picking up the Pieces
Prologue - In which a plot continues Chapter One - In which space varies (Planned, ready to begin writing - 0% complete) Chapter Two - In which a crisis is averted (Planned) Chapter Three - In which something terrible happens (Planned) Chapter Four - In which there is uncomfortable wriggling (Somewhat planned - thinking on characterization and wording) Chapter Five - In which paranoia runs rampant (Planned) Chapter Six - In which awkwardness isn't avoided (Somewhat planned - thinking on character exchanges) Chapter Seven - In which some time passes (Planned) Chapter Eight - In which psychological warfare ensues (Somewhat planned - thinking on characterization, wording, and sequence of events) Chapter Nine - In which Dib is thick-headed (Somewhat planned - thinking on character exchanges) Chapter Ten - In which self-control is exhibited (Planned) Chapter Eleven - In which self-control implodes (Somewhat planned - thinking on sequence of events, character exchanges, and wording) Chapter Twelve - In which there is a position (Planned) Chapter Thirteen - In which a mob assembles (Planned) Chapter Fourteen - In which chance encounters matter (Somewhat planned - thinking about wording and characterization, and especially character exchanges) Chapter Fifteen - In which scoldings are well-meant (Vaguely planned - thinking about...just about everything) Chapter Sixteen - In which a baby is worth more (Planned) Chapter Seventeen - In which barriers are broken (Mostly planned - thinking on character exchanges) Chapter Eighteen - In which matters aren't discussed (Planned) Chapter Nineteen - In which offers are shot down (Mostly planned) Chapter Twenty - In which Zim agrees (Somewhat planned - thinking on characterization and character exchanges) Chapter Twenty-One - In which peace is attained (Planned) Chapter Twenty-Two - In which Dib experiments (Mostly planned - thinking on wording and character exchanges) Later chapters a work in progress, la dee daaaa
This story will be rather longer than Fall to Ruin, as it takes place over a much broader span of time. A few months to possibly over a year, in fact. So of course, unlike Fall to Ruin, not every detail of that time will be written out - just what matters most, or whatever is most interesting or amusing. But, yes, I'm guessing that the sequel will be anywhere from 25 to 30 chapters long. Leaning more towards 30 at the moment, but we'll see. It doesn't seem like that much more, perhaps, but I also intend to write longer chapters. FtR's chapters were actually pretty short, looking back on them...
Finally, I have written up an essay on the workings of the Irken race in this continuity! Read it here~
ALSO! You can now find any and all art for Fall to Ruin and its continuations in this post here: Splatter of Arts~

'An immense collection of writings, all of which have collapsed into a single super-dense mass.'
A project I've had in the works for...uh...about a week. Not quite as impressive as the whole year it took before Fall to Ruin started existing, sure, but...this is still a pretty massive undertaking. Several prompt lists - seven or eight, to be not exactly precise, with the possibility of my adding more - all smushed into one giant...thing, but with the same general idea as a regular prompt list. I take the given word and write stuff for it. But I'm not sticking to sentences or a paragraph, oh no, but rather actual ficlets, or drabbles, or short stories, what have you.
It'll probably never be finished, seeing as there are in fact 600 prompts altogether, but...it's still more stuff for you all to read, so go on and read 'em! Or not, you know. Whichever.
Notes: Genres and ratings vary, of course. There will, unsurprisingly, be the occasional bit of ZADR, whether misinterpreted to be so, intentionally hinted at, or just plain blatant. However, most prompts will stick to either their usual enmity, or a kind of amity.
Any prompt that contains something I find questionable will get a warning at the beginning. Anything you find to be questionable, let me know, and I'll decide whether it warrants a warning.
Constructive criticism is always appreciated, as is any pointing out of my spelling or grammar weirderies. Note that some weirderies, like the one I used just now, are entirely intentional, and I also occasionally use improper grammar to add emphasis to something. ...Yeah, that's right. I use bad grammar to make things sound cooler. I said it. Some grammar farts, however, are completely accidental, and if you're not sure about it, just ask me, and I'll let you know if I meant it that way or not.

'An immense collection of writings, all of which have collapsed into a single super-dense mass.''
***
Written a while ago, but I still like it. Meanwhile, I decided that I'm going to be a little less restrictive of the usage of titular words; I'll still try not to use them, but I won't go out of my way to avoid them. XD;
Fun fact: Originally, when I was first writing this, I'd intended to include a character that had been mentioned in the commentary of Bad Bad Rubber Piggy. In this commentary, one of the cast members, or perhaps even Jhonen, mentioned how Dib had initially been meant to die and be replaced by some kid named 'Louie' (or perhaps it would have a weird spelling like 'Lui'). Said character, in this story, would have been the one to capture Zim, though Dib would have still been alive. Other than that, I don't remember what I'd intended to do with the plot.

Sometimes I wonder how Skoodge and Gaz would have gotten along had the show gone on longer. I also wanted to write something where Zim and Dib were more of background characters. Thus, this resulted.
***
And that would likely be the only time they'd ever interact, but people would pair them together anyway. ...Wait, what?

A well-worn idea, but I haven't written for it yet, so I thought I'd go ahead and give it my own shot. Kinda fun, I guess, even though I don't typically write for Zim being this dominant.

This one insisted on being utter crap no matter what I wrote for it - this one was the best of the FIVE separate drafts I struggled with. Note that the word 'best' is used loosely. Meanwhile, I don't know why I'm so amused by the idea of Zim attempting to play a piano. I must be very strange. ***
If Zim was ever in a band, for whatever insane reason, he would HAVE to be the drummer. Either that, or he would demand to be the lead singer. XD;

A sort of double-feature. While they technically go together, they also work on their own. The second part was mostly an excuse to write some of Zim being ridiculous and uninformed. It was also written in present tense, which I never ever use (partly because I don't particularly like it), and it is done in a very simple fashion, which I have also never attempted because I am a huge detail-lover.

'An immense collection of writings, all of which have collapsed into a single super-dense mass.''
This was an idea done recently on fanfiction.net, and while it had an interesting premise, it was sadly lacking and not very well written. Thus, as the prompt seemed appropriate enough (thanks to my handy dandy thesaurus), I decided to write my own take on it, with what I think is much more in-character behavior for Zim. (Also, there isn't a random original character shoved in. That was kind of weird.)
Warning: Mentions of 9/11 and the Holocaust, and Zim's reaction towards them. Please note that his views are extremely different from my own.

Zim! Too soon! (Okay, yeah, that was pretty freaking horrible of me. I'm sorry. D8)
Now before, I didn't really view Zim as being completely evil like this, even though he does try pretty hard to be. But, seeing as he found his unintentionally destroying half his own race to be impressive, I can't see him doing anything other than laughing about anything horrible that might happen to the human race. So...I'm going to have to agree with Dib here; Zim is a pretty terrible person. Then again, he's also highly defective, so I'm not entirely sure if we can blame him. Hmmmm, what a conundrum! Brief reference to 'In Short Supply' with the bit about Napoleon, because that fic is pretty darn great, even if the pairing is kind of strange to me. Wonderfully written, too, so...go check it out, guys! NAVIGATION Previous prompt - + Next prompt - Sick
