The Writing Blurbs of a Krys

| Jan. 14th, 2027 10:45 pm Fall to Ruin - The Collective Every time I finish a chapter, it'll be posted up here, in order, so you all don't have to search amongst any other posts I might make to find them - thus, you can expect this particular post to be updated quite a few times. Mmmmyep. I'll also state the progress of each chapter, that way you know when I'm actually working on it, and when I'm just being a total laze. XD Most of the chapters have already been planned out completely, and I know exactly which way I want to go with them. However, others are a bit more difficult because they deal with important aspects of the characters, which I intend to keep intact while still making for a believable story.
Meanwhile, for a little bit more info on the actual story as a whole, as well as other examples of my writing, you can see my first post here.
Fall to Ruin Now complete!
Chapter One - In which a schedule goes awry Chapter Two - In which aliens seem to laugh Chapter Three - In which no notable tactic is employed Chapter Four - In which an Invader runs screaming Chapter Five - In which Zim assures himself otherwise Chapter Six - In which certain skills might be useful Chapter Seven - In which Zim is not-so-stealthy Chapter Eight - In which Dib's nerves are frazzled Chapter Nine - In which Zim hits like a girl Chapter Ten - In which squealy larva is rescued Chapter Eleven - In which awkwardness is avoided Chapter Twelve - In which differences are set aside Chapter Thirteen - In which a promise is made Chapter Fourteen - In which there is much walking Chapter Fifteen - In which some ransacking occurs Chapter Sixteen - In which there's no problem Chapter Seventeen - In which something improbable happens Chapter Eighteen - In which Dib is quite dramatic Chapter Nineteen - In which a baby is coddled Chapter Twenty - In which there is Hope
Iiiiit's finished! Whoo!
AND NOW FOR THE SEQUEL, WHOO
Note: Said sequel will be a variation of ZADR. One that is not actually very romantic at all. Because romance is very out of character for Zim and Dib, yes indeedy. You can view the status below - now that the prologue is more or less complete, I will be doing something similar to when FtR was still in the works, by waiting until I finish two or more chapters before starting to upload them.
Picking up the Pieces
Prologue - In which a plot continues Chapter One - In which space varies (Writing - 6% complete) Chapter Two - In which a crisis is averted (Planned) Chapter Three - In which something terrible happens (Planned) Chapter Four - In which there is uncomfortable wriggling (Somewhat planned - thinking on characterization and wording) Chapter Five - In which paranoia runs rampant (Planned) Chapter Six - In which awkwardness isn't avoided (Somewhat planned - thinking on character exchanges) Chapter Seven - In which some time passes (Planned) Chapter Eight - In which psychological warfare ensues (Somewhat planned - thinking on characterization, wording, and sequence of events) Chapter Nine - In which Dib is thick-headed (Somewhat planned - thinking on character exchanges) Chapter Ten - In which self-control is exhibited (Planned) Chapter Eleven - In which self-control implodes (Somewhat planned - thinking on sequence of events, character exchanges, and wording) Chapter Twelve - In which there is a position (Planned) Chapter Thirteen - In which a mob assembles (Planned) Chapter Fourteen - In which chance encounters matter (Somewhat planned - thinking about wording and characterization, and especially character exchanges) Chapter Fifteen - In which scoldings are well-meant (Vaguely planned - thinking about...just about everything) Chapter Sixteen - In which a baby is worth more (Planned) Chapter Seventeen - In which barriers are broken (Mostly planned - thinking on character exchanges) Chapter Eighteen - In which matters aren't discussed (Planned) Chapter Nineteen - In which offers are shot down (Mostly planned) Chapter Twenty - In which Zim agrees (Somewhat planned - thinking on characterization and character exchanges) Chapter Twenty-One - In which peace is attained (Planned) Chapter Twenty-Two - In which Dib experiments (Mostly planned - thinking on wording and character exchanges) Chapter Twenty-Three - In which snack purchases reveal the truth (Planned) Chapter Twenty-Four - In which something important slips (Planned) Chapter Twenty-Five - In which everything is perfect (Planned) Chapter Twenty-Six - In which everything goes to hell (Planned) Chapter Twenty-Seven - In which space battles aren't epic (Planned) Chapter Twenty-Eight - In which humans hold worth (Mostly planned - thinking on wording) Chapter Twenty-Nine - In which turmoil reigns (Planned) Chapter Thirty - In which there is acceptance (Somewhat planned - thinking on how to wrap it up)
This story will be rather longer than Fall to Ruin, as it takes place over a much broader span of time. A few months to possibly over a year, in fact. So of course, unlike Fall to Ruin, not every detail of that time will be written out - just what matters most, or whatever is most interesting or amusing. But, yes, it is definitely going to be 30 chapters long. It doesn't seem like that much more, perhaps, but I also intend to write longer chapters. Most of FtR's chapters were actually pretty short, looking back on them...
There are quite possibly going to be further continuations after Picking up the Pieces; here's some vague details~!
Sharing and Caring - A short ficlet taking place between PutP and its prospective sequel, approximately four years after the former ends. Not necessarily 'canon' to the story, however. It revolves around the finer points of Zim and Dib's 'relationship', and will be meant for mature readers only. ;] Before anyone shouts, 'Hey, Irkens don't have reproductive organs in the FtR universe!', just know that there are ways around that. And I made use of one...because I am a strange, strange individual. 8D
From Ground Zero - Takes place six years after PutP, and involves a good deal of stress on Zim's 'family'. Saying any more than that would be spoilery, though. ;]
Things Left Uncoded - Takes place a century after FGZ concludes, but does not focus on Zim or Dib at all, though they will appear briefly, while Hope will play a somewhat important role (and yes, it will also be explained how they are still alive after so long). The main characters are a trio of Irken slaves, and the two Irkens who appeared in the prologue of PutP will also have a large role in the story. Revolves mainly around loyalty, friendship, and extremely platonic 'romance'. Music will be very important in the story, but not a major focus.
Finally, I have written up an essay on the workings of the Irken race in this continuity! Read it here~
ALSO! You can now find any and all art for Fall to Ruin and its continuations in this post here: Splatter of Arts~
Hey, all! New stuff, sort of! It came into being purely for the sake of fun, but seeing as it DOES go off of the Fall to Ruin continuity, I decided to post it up here! Hope you enjoy reading it as much as Emi and I enjoy making it!
Hope and Mystery Funtiemz! (Proper title pending.)
Part One - Meet n' Greet Part Two - Pickle Hunt Part Three - Dinner Guests Part Four - Gay Aliens Likely more to come as Emi and I roleplay it out.

'An immense collection of writings, all of which have collapsed into a single super-dense mass.'
A project I've had in the works for...uh...about a week. Not quite as impressive as the whole year it took before Fall to Ruin started existing, sure, but...this is still a pretty massive undertaking. Several prompt lists - seven or eight, to be not exactly precise, with the possibility of my adding more - all smushed into one giant...thing, but with the same general idea as a regular prompt list. I take the given word and write stuff for it. But I'm not sticking to sentences or a paragraph, oh no, but rather actual ficlets, or drabbles, or short stories, what have you.
It'll probably never be finished, seeing as there are in fact 600 prompts altogether, but...it's still more stuff for you all to read, so go on and read 'em! Or not, you know. Whichever.
Notes: Genres and ratings vary, of course. There will, unsurprisingly, be the occasional bit of ZADR, whether misinterpreted to be so, intentionally hinted at, or just plain blatant. However, most prompts will stick to either their usual enmity, or a kind of amity.
Any prompt that contains something I find questionable will get a warning at the beginning. Anything you find to be questionable, let me know, and I'll decide whether it warrants a warning.
Constructive criticism is always appreciated, as is any pointing out of my spelling or grammar weirderies. Note that some weirderies, like the one I used just now, are entirely intentional, and I also occasionally use improper grammar to add emphasis to something. ...Yeah, that's right. I use bad grammar to make things sound cooler. I said it. Some grammar farts, however, are completely accidental, and if you're not sure about it, just ask me, and I'll let you know if I meant it that way or not.

Then Dib would find out about his (forgotten) plan, and would also sign up for an account, only he'd lose focus of what he was doing, too. Then they'd end up in raids together and even join the same party, helping each other level up and get treasure and stuff, without even realizing that they were getting along, because they'd still be horrible to each other outside the game. xD; Random useless fact: I have never played an MMORPG in my life. All I really know about World of Warcraft is that it's addictive, there's night elves and bull-people, and also you go on raids and stuff. Oh, and as Gabe would say, it's a job; a job you pay for. | Jan. 13th, 2010 01:13 pm Fall to Ruin - A Splatter of Arts All of which revolve around Fall to Ruin, Picking up the Pieces, and...whatever might come after it. (I'm not getting my hopes up, and neither should you. XD)
First and foremost, of course, is the cover for Fall to Ruin! What else should be posted first? I mean, seriously. (Here's the original sketch, if you're interested.)
Then, we have that ol' design picture of a member of the Krakemeth race - isn't it simply huggable-adorable? 8D (In case anyone has ever wondered about the name, it's basically just 'kraken' and 'behemoth' stuck together. NOT, as a friend so incorrectly guessed, 'crack' and 'meth'. Though, once he pointed that out, it was all I could notice... Ah, well.)
Up next are the previews for the first three chapters - it's been quite a while since I tried working on other ones, and I feel the need to redo the second chapter's preview anyway... But, yes, here they are: In which a schedule goes awry In which aliens seem to laugh In which no notable tactic is employed I must wonder if anyone else ever wondered about the title of that particular chapter... ...Well, if you did, it was poking fun at Zim's terrible onion plan. (Though, originally, it was going to be something else. But...I can't remember what it was. So, yeah.)
And here we have a little thing I doodled up and colored of Hope - all grown up to the amazing age of SIX. Or seven, I dunno. Ah, but regardless of age, she'll always be Zim's little adopted bundle of trouble, she will. |3 (If - and only if - I keep up the pace on my writing, and actually manage to write everything I want, it's possible we may all see Hope as something other than a drooly baby... But, yeah, that's a huge freaking if.)
Coming up next... The basic design of Zim's replacement outfit, for when he and Dib reach Planet Resortia. If you're wondering about the change in attire, you really weren't paying attention during Fall to Ruin. (Also, they're going to a vacation planet. Hibiscus-print is a necessity. ...YES. EVEN ON AN ALIEN PLANET. SHUT THE HELL UP.) And before you ask, Dib is definitely going to have a huge laugh over this.
Speaking of Dib, here's a brand spankin' new picture (I love that phrase, and I will ALWAYS use it to describe new stuff, so get used to it) of the smelly human himself, in some other outfit, which he will probably wear most often.
Another brand spankin' new picture is just another doodle of Zim's design. I did a lot of random doodles like this, of both Zim and Dib (unfortunately, Hope kind of got the cold shoulder XD), so...I should probably have more up before the turn of the next century. Yeah.
NEW! ...Sort of! Drawn ages ago, and now I think it's kind of bad, but whatever; here's the partner picture to the previously posted Krys-style doodle of Zim's design.
Yet more things, only, again, it's old stuff. And I realize now that I consistently drew Zim too tall. He's supposed to be around a head and a half shorter than Dib. >_> Anyway, have a bunch of sketches!
Two other old things, that being the designs for Jez, Rat, and Kree, as well as Vol and Seln. The latter designs are not canon to PutP, however, as in said story, Vol is not yet an Elite, and Seln still has her antennae and is not yet an ex-Tallest. Meanwhile, I have recently changed the design of the PAK seal, because I didn't like the old one. It's fugly. 8[ Anyhow, you can see full-body drawings of the five here, along with a bunch of other Irkens who have no place in the story at all. XD (Kyr and Eim may have brief appearances, however.)
Next are a couple of things that are not relevant at all to anything in the Fall to Ruin universe, but rather another work in progress, that being 'A New Order'. I'd like to keep all the Zim art in the same place, though, so here it is. XD
AND NOW! A brand spankin' new picture, which has not very much to do with Fall to Ruin, but is at least not a completely different story altogether. XD What we have here is Hope and Mystery (a sort of 'friend' of hers), and it was spawned by a roleplay my friend Emi and I are currently immersed in, which involves smushing Invader Zim (Fall to Ruin specifically) together with Metalocalypse. ...It actually works pretty well. XD
Then there's this drawing I did of a very angry adult Hope, but it's rather bad because I did it in pen and wasn't paying attention to proper anatomy. HA!
Another just recently finished drawing is yet again of Hope and one of her 'friends', playing the virtu-visor game Battle for Meekrob! The kinda-friend's name is Suzume, and, like Mystery, she is one of Emi's characters. However, unlike Mystery, Suzume is not nearly as technology-savvy, and probably was not expecting holo-simulations, poor kid.
More to come eventually! Mmhmm.

I actually looked up addresses and directions in order to write parts of this. It was pretty entertaining, to be honest.
It was pretty handy for me that Fleet Street just so happened to be only an hour's walk from the Kennington Oval. Especially since I'd really only chosen Fleet Street because of Sweeney Todd. XD Additional references were made for Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (of course) and Doctor Who. I was actually going to have the Doctor appear for a second, but couldn't figure out a way to work him in, and I'm honestly only familiar with the fourth Doctor. Speaking of, the fourth Doctor is adorable, and I want his scarf. WANT. I was originally going to have them walking through Kensington Gardens to pass by the Peter Pan statue, but I forgot about it and wrote this instead. But it probably works better this way, anyhow. This was seriously a blast to write. I'm glad my friend gave me the idea. You're awesome, Emi. Way awesome.
Warnings: Poking fun at shonen anime and, really, anime as a whole. There will thus be some mocking usage of Wapanese. May contain out of character shenanigans, hopefully be excessively over the top, and contain things that murder and beat the corpse of science and all it encompasses. Oh, and there's also a reference to a really terrible yet somehow awesome fanfiction (specifically, 'Gundam Wing Final Battle' by Peter Chimaera).

It's a black cat, if anyone cares. But, yeah, I guess Dib and Gaz decided that since having a dog didn't work out, they'd try a cat instead. It was probably Gaz's idea, though; Dib seems like more of a dog person to me. I wasn't originally going to have Zim rejoin them, but I couldn't think of any way to properly end it with just Dib and Vens, and, due to the fact that they were in a bar, I didn't want to imply that Zim was just getting drunk or something. No, I'm saving my version of a drunk Zim, as well as an explanation of why alcohol might affect him, for a later prompt. :D Meanwhile, I've actually thought long and hard about Irken social norms, based on how they interact with other Irkens (and particularly other aliens) in the actual show. It's another all-Zim prompt, yay! Seriously, who doesn't love Zim? (If you don't, I can only wonder why you even watch the show. o.o) Anyway, I think this one was brought about by my wondering why the Tallests even bother answering Zim's calls. I dunno.Meanwhile, here's the most recent references I made for all zero (maybe one) of my readers to guess: 1.) The end exchange of the Christmas prompt is a nod to episode 5 of Bonus Stage. 2.)
